After Bjork recruited her as a band member and co-writer, Leila launched a solo career on the electronic fringes of avant-garde pop. In gestation for eight years, during which both her parents died, Leila's third album could have been a sombre affair. In fact, it is her warmest and richest record yet; a perfumed patchwork of ambient textures, hip-hop beats, sci-fi lullabies and snaking reggae.
Martina Topley-Bird, Terry Hall and Leila's sister Roya provide guest vocals on soulful sound paintings that evoke Massive Attack and Goldfrapp. Aside from a trippy deconstruction of the Beatles' Norwegian Wood, this is exotic, eclectic and exquisite.
